چکیده

BROCKLESBY D. W., SELLW~~D S. A. and HARNESS E., 1972. Some characteristics of a strain of Theileria mutans (Theiler, 1906) isolated from cattle in the County of Kent, England and maintained in splenectomized calves. International Journal for Parasitology, 2: 265-271. A strain of T. mutans was isolated from British cattle and maintained by blood inoculation in splenectomized calves. The strain was avirulent but caused a haemolytic anaemia with a tendency towards macrocytosis. Sixteen passages were made with blood taken at or near peak parasitaemia but this did not result in any change in the behaviour or virulence of the parasite. Maximum parasitaemias varied between S/l000 R.B.C. and 131/1OOO R.B.C. and were achieved between the 8th and 31st day after infection. Attempts to transmit the parasite with three tick species were not successful. INDEX

In silico analysis of Ta9 gene polymorphism in an Iranian Theileria annulata schizont-infected cell line S15 vaccine strain and native isolates

Bovine theileriosis is a tick-borne disease caused by obligate intracellular parasites related to the genus Theileria. Cellular immune responses protect cattle against pathogens through the activation of immune cells. Nowadays, live, attenuated vaccine of Theileria annulata (T. annulata) is being produced in Iran and is recommended for active cattle immunization. Detection of the immunogenic  a...

A Multi-locus Study for Detection of Cryptosporidium Species Isolated from Calves Population, Liverpool UK

Cryptosporidium is an obligate intracellular protozoan parasite infecting a wide range of hosts. The current study investigated the genetic profile of Cryptosporidium species in calves in Liverpool, England. Fifty-two calve fecal samples were collected from a farm and initially screened by Auramine phenol, modified Ziehl-Neelsen and ELISA. PCR analysis of 18S rRNA gene was carried out for the p...

Molecular characterization of Theileria parva parasites from South Sudan using the PCR-RFLP approach on antigen genes

In an attempt to characterize Theileria parva parasites circulating in South Sudan cattle , polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based assays were carried out using four single copy encoding antigen genes p104, PIM, p150 and p67 in addition to one microsatellite MS321. A total of 20 bovine DNA samples from two locations in South Sudan were included in this study, in addition to two references stra...

Molecular and Microscopic Detection of Theileria spp. among Cattle and Buffaloes in West Azarbaijan, Iran

Bovine theileriosis is an important tick-borne disease caused by intraerythrocytic parasites from genus Theileria. This study sought to detect the theileriosis among cattle and buffaloes using molecular and microscopic tests in West Azerbaijan, Iran. For this purpose, 484 blood samples from 193 cattle and 291 buffaloes were collected during March to July 2014. The breed, gender, age, and habita...

Occurrence of virulence genes and strain diversity of thermophilic campylobacters isolated from cattle and sheep faecal samples

The objective of this study was to investigate the genotypic characteristics of Campylobacter isolates in Shiraz, Iran. A total of 40 Campylobacter isolates including 20 C. jejuni and 20 C. coli were recovered from both cattle and sheep faeces by cultivation methods. The isolates were identified on the basis of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) detection of 16SrRNA and multiplex PCR to determine ...
